EmPath is currently taking applications for custom small groups to meet grade level standards, and enrich public school curriculum by providing live instruction and filling in the gaps.

We are committed to democratizing education within our organization, so for each small group wr are offering free spaces to students who do not have access to quality educational resources. Priority will be given to students in the BIPOC community, students from highly marginalized sub groups, and students with exceptionalities.

Through a thorough intake process, we ensure that every student has not only a good fit group of peers, but an awesome mentor teacher and a 1-2 page “Path plan,” which can be shared with Fall teachers to introduce your child’s learning needs. This document, acts as each students’ personalized learning plan, which considers their needs holistically, while addressing COVID-concerns with online learning. From helping your child advocate for their needs online, and to giving them a safe space to engage in social learning, EmPath offers an opportunity for kids to get back what is “left to be desired” whatever their school’s plans are. Note: Students can choose to participate in their cohort AND also sign up for a study-hall/Advisory block, or attend either or “a-la-carte.”

Intake/Matching Process:

  • Free fifteen-minute consultation call, Scheduling a 1-1 entry assessment.

  • Completing parent intake form.

  • Teacher insight form.

  • E-mail neurological psych information, or other relevant testing information to Christina@EmPathLearning.com, using a PHI safety extension.

  • 1-1 Entry Assessment/Interview.

  • We develop an “Path plan” for the student, which is a 1-2 page report of suggested accommodations for remote learning. This can be used to help new teachers get to know your child, and can act like an IEP within their small group. Students receive differentiated instruction while having an opportunity for synchronous social interaction, and a safe space to process this uncharted year ahead.

  • Your student is matched with a small group focusing on similar skills, grade-level work, and educational goals, a weekly schedule is set, and the magic begins.

Virtual Advisory: Students will attend virtual “Advisory,” which is moderated by two educators who specialize in executive functions skills, math, and literacy. Advisory teachers will have access to a “Path Plan” created for each student which outlines their main goals for the space/time, and any helpful accommodations needed. The teachers will moderate the group chat, answer questions, and facilitate breakout rooms of learners.

  • Zoom breakout rooms will be assigned to your student with their cohort extension group, and they will have the opportunity to complete independent school work with a humanities & stem teacher present.

  • Students can allow this space to be for asking questions in the chat, learning from their peers, or working on an independent project-based assignment from the advisory teacher.

  • We will focus on holistic health, and executive functions within the group, and promote opportunities for peer-editing, and the peer-led review of school curricula by student leaders.
